Is This Leonardo DiCaprio’s Oscar Year

Ask people to name an A-List actor and 9 times out of 10, Leonardo DiCaprio will feature in within the first 5 people they can think of. Yet, this amazing actor has yet to win the coveted of all acting prizes, the Academy Award or Oscar as its better known.

There are many films that you can spurt off when naming fine acting performances for Leonardo DiCaprio from one of his first films, What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, to a film that was one of the highest grossing of its time, Titanic, and his work with top directors such as Martin Scorsese and Christopher Nolan on Inception you would think would make him a shoe-in for the award and yet the Oscar has still remained elusive to him.

So, what’s different about this years Oscar? Well, this past year Leo featured in, ‘The Revenant’. A film that has created such a buzz in the film world for many, many different reasons. First the whole filming process came under scrutiny with people stating it was, “Hell on earth to work on”. Then it was released and receives 5 star reviews from huge players such as Empire Magazine and The Guardian in the UK. A part of their advertising campaign includes bill-boards covered with review after review all stating 5 stars! Finally, that scene with the bear, with VFX that simply stunned us all (even those in the VFX industry)…

So what does this have to do with Leo? Well Mr DiCaprio is the lead in this revolutionary cinematic film. Not only does he hold his own, he delivers possibly one of the finest performances of his entire acting career. His performance guides you into a world where you feel immersed in his vengeance desperate to follow him to the outcome.

In answer to the question in the title of this article, could this be Leonardo DiCaprio’s year? He definitely deserves it. I think it could be…
